Orestes Character

Orestes’ was driven by the natural impulses, and desire to avenge his father's death. In the Eumenides he becomes merely the passive instrument of fate, all freedom of action being transferred to the gods. He mourned his father’s death and asked the king of the gods to give him ability to take vengeance upon his mother Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus. …position before Athene's statue and begs for her help. Orestes was ordered by the god Apollo to kill Clytaemestra. He had the right to vengeance; she killed his father, and Orestes has responsibility to his dynasty. But Clytaemestra was also his mother. Apollo does most of the talking for Orestes . Orestes thanks Athena and the people of Athens, and then he leaves to go home to Argos. Finally, he is king. Apollo exits with him.
