Paul Cezanne

…remains, there is no build up of colour as in his earlier works and it appears that in some sections, Cézanne abandoned his normal brush strokes in favour of swirls. However, even from the beginning, Cézanne showed aspects of Abstract and Cubism in his works. It was for this reason that Cézanne was not only the leading Post Impressionist, but he paved the way for the further creation of Abstract and Cubism.
