Imagine this scenario, someone has just spent the last year of their life working on an invention, then imagine someone else taking that invention and releasing it with their name. This scenario is much like the epidemic facing students and their writing. In our society today, taking credit for another person’s work is considered alright. This disease not only affects high school and college students, it is also becoming a problem with seasoned writers. …

…was copied and turned in by another student who didn’t make any effort to write their paper. Events like those which occurred in Piper Kansas, only help make plagiarism seem less like a crime and more like a simple mistake. Readers do not want to find out the book they read by their favorite author was really written by another writer. A change in the standards of society can make a change in plagiarism.
