Pocahontas

Pocahontas was an Indian princess, the daughter of Powhatan who was the chief of an Indian tribe in Virginia. Powhatan had many wives and twenty- seven children, one being Pocahontas. She was born in the 1950s and she was named Matoaka though she is better known as Pocahontas, which means playful. I feel that Pocahontas despite everything wrong that occurred played an important role in American History. As a young girl she helped settle the fued between the Indians and settlers and she made sure that the colonists received food from the Indians, so that Jamestown would not become another "Lost Colony."
