American government has changed a lot since its start in 1776. These changes have been brought up due to people's ideas and protest. To get there ideas publicized people who share the same interests form pressure groups. A few of them are the Common Cause, the League of Women Voters, and Ralph Nader's Public Citizen, Inc. Without these pressure groups many of the issues in public policy would not exist.
