Prospero: Humanity and Captives
Humanity and Captives In Shakespeare’s, “The Tempest” Prospero lost his humanity and captives by forcing and manipulating Ariel but in the end he regains it by forgiving the people who hurt him the most instead of trying to get revenge. Prospero loses all his humanity and captives by being forceful and manipulative towards Ariel. When he told Ariel, “Thou best know’st what torment I did find thee in thy groans did make wolves
most wicked sir, whom to call brother would infect my mouth. I do forgive thy fault all of them.”(5.1.147-149) He regains his humanity and captives because he is forgiving the one who probably hurt him the most by trying to kill him and his daughter. And also because he is trying to let bygones be bygones and move on with his life since he has returned after years if being trapped on the island.
