Racial Awareness in the classroom
Racial Awareness in the Classroom: It CAN be Done Over the past few weeks we have discussed the issue of race and the many forms of discrimination into which it can be molded. Whether it is through preconceived stereotypes, racial slurs, or a general phobia due to ignorance, racial discrimination in the classroom is a problem that is rarely addressed. Only through teaching racial awareness to our students can we begin to solve this problem
present in our school system, and with better understanding and knowledge of the subject, teachers and parents alike can help our children see beyond the surface of another’s skin. All children are entitled to a learning environment where the color of their skin does not effect the quality of their education, and only through racial awareness will we be able to change that from an educator’s ideal into a social reality. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ **Bibliography**
