Renaissance Art

Renaissance art was paintings, sculptures, architecture, and other arts produced in Europe in the historical period called the Renaissance. The period covers the 200 years between 1400 and 1600. The word renaissance literally means “rebirth”. Renaissance artists took great credit and pride for their fine buildings. Renaissance sculpture also reflected classical style. Many nude, freestanding statues were sculpted in bronze or marble resembled ancient Greek and Roman figures. Some of the best-known renaissance sculptors were Michelangelo and Donatello.
