The country of Italy has a developed democracy; the form of government used is the Republic. There are three branches of government, federal, national, and state. The three branches on the federal level are the executive branch, legislative branch, and judicial branch. The top branch is the executive branch. …there is a President, Prime Minister, and cabinet. In the legislative branch there is a bicameral parliament that consists of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies. Many different coalitions and political parties have seats in the parliament. In the judicial branch there is a legal system based on civil law with judicial review, the highest court is the Constitutional Court composed of 15 judges. On the state level there is an appointed prefect for each province.
