Rhyme Scheme in

The rhyme scheme used in “The Raven” serves as a large contribution to the mood of the story. In each stanza, the last word of the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth lines rhyme with each other. This particular rhyme scheme acts as a contribution because the ending words that all rhyme somehow relate to a sad, depressing aspect of the narrator’s life. …then states that he muttered that the raven will leave him, just like all of his other hopes have left him in the past. Poe uses the word “muttered”, to express how the man feels gloomy and heartbroken from the rejection of the neglecting raven. Thus, the rhyme scheme used in this poem reveals the melancholy mood of the each stanza by using words that portray the aspects of both the man and the raven.
