The author wanted to show that the black struggle for freedom started not only in the colonies, but also before and while the blacks was on the boats. …it, I got the picture. I would recommend this book to another history class, because it goes more in depth of black history. Most history books just talk about a few key people in black history; this book talks about most black figures before their time. It talks about people who first started the struggle for freedom and their plans before they even reached the new world. So this book comes with my highest recommendations.
