Ancient Roman dress is often criticized as an imitation of Greek dress. At first glance this is true but take a second more close look and there are many changes. Though the clothing is draped the same, Roman cloth is sewn together, not pinned. Roman jewelry became plain and simple in design much different to the Greeks’. Topaz, emeralds, rubies and sapphires were often used. Gold pendants were especially pular. Roman fashion has said to be a duplicate of the Greeks. When in fact Roman fashion was unique and beautiful in its own simple way.
