Romeo/Juliet Translation Act 2
Monologue Juliet O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father, and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet. ‘Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself though, not a Montague. What’s Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot, Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O! be some other name:
it being a world favorite love story. I thoroughly enjoy this scene of the play. It takes place in Capulet’s beautiful orchard with Romeo first speaking of Juliet without realizing she is above listening. It shows the love they have for one another, how strong it is and what they are willing to sacrifice to be together. I also chose this particular monologue because it strongly illustrates the power of fate, love and hate.
