Romeo & Juliet: Role of Fate.
The whole play of Romeo and Juliet is based on fate. Fate controls everything that happens and is beyond anyone's control. The concept of fate is first introduced in the prologue, when Romeo and Juliet are referred to as 'star-cross'd lovers'. This suggests that Romeo and Juliet are destined to be together. The whole quote says " A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life", so the outcome of the play is already known. "A pair
a brace of kinsmen. All are punish'd." The fate of the two lovers finally was the one thing that ended or at least quieted the feud between the Montagues and Capulets. Quote- 5/3/292, 294 & 295 Consequently, fate brought Romeo and Juliet together, and it set everything up. Events throughout the whole play were controlled by fate. The two houses' feud was finally ended by one thing, fate, the fate of 'two star-cross'd lovers', Romeo and Juliet.
