It seems like there is always a trend in unimaginably horrible acts of violence that is trendy at a certain point in time. What was it a while back? Postal workers? It was almost trendy to work at the post office and… well… go postal, killing as many people as you could before running out of ammo or being stopped. What else was there? Drive-by’s were pretty popular for a while there. And now …

…shyness. Sixteen-year-old Ben Garris from Baltimore stabbed his guidance councilor to death. Fourteen-year-old Kristina Fetters from Des Moines stabbed her favorite great aunt to death (Let’s Talk). Both of these violent acts were associated with antidepressants. It is apparent that more has to be found out about the effect of antidepressants on children, but how many more children’s lives have to be ruined before something is done about the over prescription of antidepressants?
