Stereotyped Goths

When I think of stereotyped social groups, the first group I think of are Goths. The media projects them as a negative social group, Satanists, and a possible reason of the Columbine school shooting. I had the chance to go see what the gothic community is like when I stayed with my cousin in Dallas a year ago. …at the “strange behavior” such as dyeing their hair, the makeup they use, and the clothes they wear whereas the Goths are just making a stand to be different and get respect in the process. I enjoyed the time I spent with the Goths and am happy to have learned about a subculture I did not understand. The media, in my opinion, needs to look toward the true aspects and stop stereotyping the gothic culture.
