“The Dead” is the last chapter of “Dubliners” a book that contains fifteen short stories about the dubliners – a critical description about all social classes that lived in Dublin. In 1905 when James Joyce traied to publish the book it contained only eleven stories. They were rejected for publication because the stories shocked the publishers. David L Mosley from Goshen College, makes an interesting analysis linking the different styles of music founded in the story with the different situations and dialogues between the characters. Reading this analysis we understand that different music styles define ‘the different atmospheres’ found in the narrative. In general, the atmosphere in that party is full of falsehood, irony, lies, frivolity, provocation,, resumed in one word – HYPOCRISY.
