THE SOLILOQUY OF THE SILENT, SECURED SOLDIER
“The disgrace that has descended upon me is overwhelming! What will become of me? No, I choose not to ponder my future, but to wallow in my shame. Only much pain, agony, and anguish are to follow. How could I have been captured? To be a prisoner of war shames me. Presently, I sit before my captors who are performing a rigorous examination and a herd of questions are open. I choose not to participate
and time. As a result, the prisoner is reduced to a state of dejection where he is discouraged and melancholy because he is not highly placed with the heroes of the war. And thus, this is where I stand. I am a prisoner of war --- a dejected soul left to perish as a coward, not as a hero. My captors have revoked my honor. What is my destiny, now that my honor is nonexistent?”
