Tale of Two cities
Analyse the character of Sydney Carton in “A Tale of Two Cities” A Tale of Two Cities has long been one of Charles Dickens' most favoured books. Throughout the text, one character attracts my attention. Following this, throughout the novel various characters are "recalled to life", meaning that they have had a new chance at life. The most significant instance of someone being "recalled to life" is Sydney Carton. Sydney Carton, a young, bright lawyer,
saving Darnay for Lucie, Sydney Carton is "recalled to life." Sydney Carton made the ultimate sacrifice because of his love for Lucie and his friendship with Darnay. Carton is the example of one of the most important themes implied in the text. Carton helps others, and does not think so much of himself. Right before going to the guillotine, Carton sees a better world, a world where he gave to others, not thinking of himself.
