The Antheap The Antheap by Doris Lessing is a story of the struggles between two boys who are growing up in Africa and learn to deal with the racism in their lives. I like Lessing’s use of words, especially the way in which she describes the pit. Mr. Macintosh did not want to acknowledge Dirk as his son and in The Displace Person; Mrs. McIntyre does not want to keep Mr. Guizac as a worker at her farm. Both of these decisions were made partly because they were feeling threatened by people who they perceived as threatening their idea of social order.
