The color Purple Celie and Nettie both went through hard times although there was an array of differences between the two. …to empower themselves. They need to learn to stand up for themselves and stand up for their rights, and break the viscous cycle that was taught to them throughout their whole lives. Celie and Nettie both had to take a journey that would lead them to a new way of thinking and acting. Their spiritual journeys would eventually change their whole views on society as a whole, and how both men and women should interact.
