The Crucible

A True Test When one lies he/she hurts his/her loved ones. The Crucible, an historical drama by Arthur Miller, portrays the story of the Salem witch trials of 1692. The Crucible illustrates how religion and government intermixed. John Proctor, the main character, commits adultery with Abigail Williams and his wife finds out about it. The idea of spirits presiding over people has the whole town of Salem fearing that witches might be among them. …

…everything else. Miller attempts to push across a very important lesson through this story. Miller tries to explain that love for something or someone is the most important thing to have. Even in the time of Salem with trials or 1692, the emphasis on love, forgiveness, and trust was very high. Perhaps, if we intertwined some of those thoughts in today’s world, the light at the end of the tunnel might become a little brighter.
