…far east, and the split of the Roman Catholic Church, which brought about the reformation of the church, there wouldn’t have been enough of a basis for the Renaissance to occur. For all of these reasons and probably many more that could have been mentioned but weren’t for the purpose of conforming to the guidelines set forth for the length of this paper, the crusades are an important theme for the middle ages.
