The Divine Wind book
The Divine Wind is an outline of what the war was like back in the 1930’s to the 1940’s. It basically talks about issues of war, love, friendships and racism. The novel describes the friendship between Hart Penrose and his sister Alice, children of Michael Penrose, a Pearling fleet owner, Misty, a Japanese Australian, a daughter of Sadako, and Jamie Kilian, the son of the local Magistrate. The romantic links between these characters and Alice’
was that it was very hard to get into, but as the plot deepened and the novel progressed it turned out to be an outstanding, enjoyable book. Some of the reasons being were because the racial differences in the book are recognisable in today’s society and I was able to relate to that. What added to me enjoying this book was that it included a little romance and it proved that war changes everything.
