The number of employers and employees the Family Medical Leave Act affected went above and beyond the projected numbers, thus showing the increasing need for protection due to a “serious health condition” of an employee or employee’s family. The numbers are projected to only increase in the next five years because of the number of workers that will need to take leave under the Act at some time.
