Sociology of Minorities In the movie “The Hurricane”, the main character, Rueben Carter, strongly valued survival. Two scenes in particular clearly displayed Rueben possessing this value. …jacket back on. When faced in front of the guard, he once again refused to wear the prison garb. The warden conceded and asked Rueben if prison pajamas would suffice. Rueben said he would wear those. The warden thanked him. The two scenes described in this essay clearly showed that Rueben Carter is a man who values survival. Not only did he know within himself what it takes to survive, more importantly he did survive.
