The Life of Charles Darwin

Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England on February 12, 1809, the son of Robert Waring Darwin. Darwin was the fifth out of seven children of a wealthy English family. The word Darwinism refers to evolution by means of natural selection, simply that the world is an evolving thing.         Darwin wrote many other books on biology including The Descent of Man, and the Power of Movement in Plants. He died in Downe on April 19, 1882 and was buried in Westminster Abbey near Charles Lyell and Isaac Newton. Darwin has been said to be one of the greatest figures in biology ('Darwin', Grolier 3).
