In Machiavelli’s, The Prince, he stresses the importance of the wise and intelligent administration of Cesare Borgia in Romagna and suggests it as an example of the way a prince should use his power. Cesare didn’t trust Remirro and therefore he was killed. Machiavelli seems to approve of the terrible spectacle of “Remirro placed in two pieces in the square at Cesena, with a block wood and a blood-stained sword at his side”. (…

Machiavelli regards Cesare as one of the greatest princes ever and he examines this belief thoroughly. Although Cesare made one important mistake, which would eventually lead to his down fall, he was truly a great leader.
