Analysis of: “The Souls of Black Folks” The soul of black folk opens up a lot of old wounds about slavery and its remaining ramifications of the lives and souls of black folk. DuBois reflected a lot about what would happen in the future and how our lives as African Americans have been altered forever. In the book’s opening chapters he reflects in a veil of ignorance which covers the lives of blacks, which
both economically and socially. DuBois believed the key was education. The key, in the sense that if one is educated he is more likely to release and understand his surroundings and P.1 some how raise above it all, and hence come out a better person. The souls of black folks reflects a culture of a lack of enthusiasm to learn and become educated, which today is reflected in the high illiteracy rates among African- Americans
