…Through the use of characterization of Jekyll and Hyde, Stevenson was able to show that society can only control a man's nature to an extent. With the use of the theme that man is born with both good and evil, and society controls how man's nature is revealed, Stevenson was able to support his idea. Society's social restrictions and laws may stop a lot of crime, but it can only control man's nature so much.
