Over the past several years the game industry has gone from small potatoes to a major media industry player. It dwarfs even movie ticket sales with a whopping 10 billion in revenue. However, many of the games sold have violent content not suitable for children and that nonetheless they can be easily purchased by the aforementioned. This has spurred a push towards safeguards and legislation to prevent such games from falling into the hands of the
movie so why should they be able to buy a videogame destined for the same 17 and up crowd. Though I believe that it is the parents responsibility to keep their children from interacting with such content, there should be laws in place to help them out. In the end, a parent can’t be with a child 24/7 and the more that is don’t to prevent these games from falling into their hands, the better.
