…Nguyen Tan Dung has urged traffic police to take more responsibility in curbing the nation’s traffic accidents and putting a halt to road congestion. Since a crackdown launched at the beginning of January 104,640 people have been charged with traffic violations, netting the Government VND13.3 billion (US$869,281). So far this year 727 people have died on Viet Nam’s roads, down 10 per cent from December figures. Traffic violations have also dropped by 2.5 per cent. - VNS
