Visiting Grandma

When I hear friends complain about having to visit their nearby relatives, I can remember myself saying the same thing not so long ago. When I was younger, every Sunday our family took a drive to visit my grandmother. I always dreaded that drive—being in the car too long made me nauseous. My grandfather had passed away not too long before we started making those regular visits. I used to think grandma just liked …

…you have with someone, when they’re taken away, it will hurt that much more. Taking people for granted is never smart—another thing grandma taught me. I’m always quick to remind my friends that if they take the time to listen to their relatives, they might actually take something very important with them. I did with my talks with grandma and I am happy that I’m able to look back without regret.
