Life places a great gap between wish and reality. This is true for Walter Mitty, the main character in the story “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, written by James Thurber. The way he is in reality, really contrasts the way he is in the fantasy world. …daring, suave, courageous and up for any challenge, but in reality, Mitty is a meek, timid man who often is shown contempt and that’s why he has these series of daydreams. We saw why he was having these dreams, we saw through his imaginative mind to get to the real Walter Mitty, so the DRAMATIC IRONY of the story really leads the reader to become more in touch with Mitty and with the story.
