Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" is a realistic drama in three acts about the marital war between George, a professor of history, and his wife Martha, the daughter of the college president. Returning home at 2 A.M. from a party welcoming faculty, Martha and George are squabbling. Despite the hour, Martha has invited Nick, a new member of the science faculty, and his young wife Honey for a nightcap. When
has a child, a fact that seems to come between both sets of parents. For Martha and George, their lack of a child is another failure. For Honey and Nick, it is another ground upon which they are not communicating. Both couples furthermore, are deeply influenced by the wife's father; the play forwards the though that none of the characters is ready to have children in part because they are all living like children themselves.
