Why is there a war against pesticides? Pesticides have been used for years in the agricultural industry as well as in parks, lawns, gardens and school yards. Pesticides have many harmful effects on our environment, as well as on our children’s health. The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that municipalities have the right to ban the use of agricultural pesticides. …will certainly help reduce the chance exposure to pesticides when children are playing on soccer fields or playgrounds. However, banning harmful agricultural chemicals won’t be effective, if crops in other countries are grown with the same harmful chemicals, and then are allowed to be imported. The use of pesticides in our food sources and our municipalities is an issue that is still fairly new and there is no easy answer to this controversial topic.
