…there was still a large number of dedicated hard working women who contributed to the war effort by working in war-related offices. In all cases, the women had disproved the old theory that women were a distracting influence to industry. The sacrifices of women were instrumental in wining the war. In the USA alone, some 300,000 fatalities were recorded due to industrial accidents. Yet their achievements - in terms of raising production levels - were astonishing.”
