Women of Egypt/ King Tutankhamen

Women during Ancient Egypt surprisingly had a large amount of power. During this time period, women were able to own property, regularly attend social events with their husbands, and basically had their own freedom. Most Egyptian women were known as the ¡°Mistress of the House¡± which meant that they were in charge of running the household, management of servants and inventory, if they lived in well-to-do conditions. This is evidence that women of Egypt had some freedom since in most cultures, women especially the wives of deceased kings were not allowed to remarry. Women of this time period had power enough to do whatever they wanted but they were not set as equal to the men. Nevertheless, they had their own decisions to make and were not as manipulated by their husbands like most cultures.
