“Women’s Rights: rights that establish the same social, economic, and political status for women as for men. Women’s rights guarantee that women will not face discrimination on the basis of their sex.” Women’s rights is taken for granted in the world today, but when one studies the struggle of women it becomes clear that there is a long way to go to achieve true equality. It wasn’t until the 19th century
of voting rights for women worked tirelessly, but strategies for achieving their goal changed. Some pursued a strategy of passing suffrage acts in each state--nine western states adopted woman suffrage legislation by 1912. Others challenged male-only voting laws in the courts. Large numbers of middle-class women got together to fight for their rights in what was called The Women Rights Movement. Women went trough many obstacles to obtain the social and politician status they now hold.
