Throughout the whole book, it is evident that Holden is just in “Hormone Hell.” Granted, like many of his fans, Holden Caufield turns out to be nuts or least residing in an insane asylum. Yet, in Holden’s insanity, there is a transcendent theme. By being the angry, nasty, cynical, and biased jerk; Holden Caulfield suggests that it is okay to be this way.
