Traditions are a significant factor in every culture. They are unique and distinguishable, just as the people and country from which they arose. As a teenager of Armenian heritage I am aware of many celebrated ethnic traditions such as “Barekentan”, which acknowledges the bare essentials of life, and “Vartevar”, which is celebrated at the beginning of Spring with ornate weaves of flowers and hand-made pots carrying sweet water. …My family is my backbone. And I am another link to this chain that has been constructing since the first nomads set foot in my sacred country, Armenia. I have the huge responsibility of carrying my heritage in such a vast and diverse foreign land. But I am courageous to carry on. Because I know that when the load becomes too cumbersome, I’ll always have someone I love beside me, to ease my journey.
