douglas' reading on slavery
The first thing came to my mind after reading “Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass, an American Slave” was how lucky and blessed I am to have the ‘freedom’ without having to fight for it. As a foreigner, I only had a little knowledge on African American enslavement. created equal, one group of people controlling another cannot be justified. Even though the slavery does not exist in this century, this book reminded me that I must not forget the past; the time when people had to fight for what they were entitled to: ‘freedom.’ Moreover, I must respect and treat other people the way I want them to treat me. Finally, I must learn from the past and never make the same mistake.
