dr jekyll and mr hyde
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886. It is actually a portrayal of Stevenson’s own life. Stevenson suffered from a series of nightmares in which he lived a double life. In the day he worked as a respectable doctor, but in the night he was forced to fall victim to a monster who roamed the alleys of his own town. Stevenson decided to write about
others. I my personal opinion, I think that Stevenson was trying to escape his nightmares through writing about his situation. The book was a type of security blanket that he could feel secure in and avoid the fears of reality. In general, I look forward to reading about the atrocities that Mr. Hyde creates for Dr. Jekyll to discover. I also am interested in Dr. Jekyll’s reaction to the actions of his darker side.
