The word “Photography” was invented by Sir John Herschel who first used the term in 1839. The word is derived from the Greek words for light and writing. The first known use of photography was at the beginning of the nineteenth century when Thomas Wedgwood was conducting experiments. He eventually took his own life and next to his body was a note which read, “To my friends, My work is done-why wait?” As you can see Photography has a very rich history and can not be credited with really one inventor.
