I still feel Said can make a valid case, in his book ?Covering Islam? he roots his theories firmly to the Iranian Revolution of 1979, and uncovers the astounding ideological economising with which the Western media handled the situtaion. For me his theories are best understood when applied to the here and now specifics of actual political situations, rather than his fervent promotion of Western hegemony which reverberates from his sweeping generalizations in ?Orientalism?. 3120
