…the 10 tribunes (officials). The tribunes could veto the Senate. The Senate was the most powerful of the groups of citizens. The Senate was made of 300 men. They could propose a citizen to be a dictator. A dictator could only be in power for six months. The two social classes were divided between the patricians (aristocrats) and the plebeians. In 450B.C., the Romans wrote down their first laws on tablets know as the Twelve Tables.
