…events in a way that is easy to visualize and understand. Personally, I thought the book began slowly, but rapidly picked up. I learned that even the noblest of causes have to be decided through bloodshed of innocent men. Shaara tells the story through the last words of the novel and leaves the reader with a lasting impression of the quality of his work and a permanent reverence for all involved in the Civil War.
