There were many reasons why war broke out in Europe on 1939, but the main factor was Hitler and his actions which provoked Britain and France into World War Two. Hitler killed himself in his Berlin bunker on 30 April 1945, then on May 8, 1945, Germany surrendered. Hitler's "Thousand Year Reich" had lasted a little over 12 years.
