Many people associate the 1920's in Russia as a preparation for Stalin, and the period of time after 1953 as a long recovery from his dictatorship. People who were anti-revolution pointed to the horror and fatality under Stalin as justification for their position on the issue of the revolution. …with himself? Was Stalin's era even an era of terror? Does his unbelievable strengthening of the Russian economy make up for the harsh conditions he implied on the peasants? It all depends on how you look at it. The kind of changes that took place could only have only happened on a background of terror.
