This is unfortunate for mankind because the more advanced, the more serious television gets, the worse it is for its viewers. It constantly feeds people information with which they take in without even knowing its perils. The situation, Postman argues, is quite the opposite; TV often embraces these subjects but, because it is tilted toward amusement and emotional gratification rather than coherent, logical thinking, it turns them into entertainment. There is no telling when it will be stopped. But if Postman is right, that Huxley's prophecies will come true, then people will soon find themselves constrained by the hands of technology.
